Overview

Josh.ai is seeking a talented Android Application Developer to join our growing engineering team in Denver. In this role, you'll play a key part in developing and enhancing the Android application that serves as a primary interface between our customers and their smart homes. You'll take ownership of Android application development, building new features, improving performance, and delivering an intuitive, polished user experience. Working closely with product owners, designers, and fellow engineers, you'll help expand the capabilities of our Android platform while ensuring a consistent experience across our Android, iOS, and web applications. Responsibilities

• Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of the Josh.ai Android application, delivering new features and functionality that elevate the customer experience.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers to define, design, and implement new application features in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
• Drive Android application development toward feature and functional parity with the Josh.ai iOS application and web portal.
• Develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and performant Kotlin code while following modern Android development standards and best practices.
• Help shape technical solutions and architectural decisions, ensuring implementations are scalable, maintainable, and optimized for the Android platform.
• Identify and resolve application performance issues, bugs, and technical challenges to ensure a reliable and seamless user experience.
• Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative design and implementation efforts.
• Contribute to improving development workflows, testing practices, and overall code quality.
• Take ownership of projects and deliver high-quality software through consistent communication, collaboration, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of professional Android mobile application development experience.
• Experience developing and publishing at least one application through the Google Play Store or another Android application distribution platform.
• Strong understanding of modern Android application development, architecture, and the Android SDK.
• Advanced proficiency in Kotlin, including object-oriented programming principles and writing clean, readable, maintainable, and performant code.
• Hands-on experience with Android development tools, debugging, and application performance optimization.
• Experience with RxJava and reactive programming concepts.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including unit testing, continuous integration, version control, and code reviews.
• A commitment to code quality and a demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, production-ready applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills, personal accountability, and the ability to take ownership of projects from development through delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or a strong interest in smart home automation, voice control, artificial intelligence, and IoT technologies.
• Experience working in a startup or other fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
• Experience with Android UI/UX design and building intuitive, visually engaging mobile interfaces.
• Familiarity with WebSockets and real-time communication between mobile applications and backend services.
• Experience building applications that interact with connected devices, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with modern Android architecture patterns and contemporary mobile application development practices.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000-$140,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.

• This is a full-time on-site position based in Denver, Colorado.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Candidates must reside in the Denver metropolitan area or be willing to relocate.
